Hello

While compiling a Debian package for KDE 1.1 (because the official KDE 1.1
Debian packages seemed to not be able to run half of the KDE apps), I noticed
one of the tar sources (KDE Network I *think*), required libGDBM to compile.
So while retrieving the deb package of it, I noticed the description of
libgdbm-dev:

This library is no longer supported by the FSF, and hasn't been worked on in
several years -- for new applications, please consider libdb instead, and also
consider migrating old applications, see /usr/doc/libgdbmg1/MIGRATE.

Perhaps you should take a look at changing to libdb? I also found out that
the Debian Slink (v2.2) distribution required the libGDBM to work aswell. So I
am assuming the change hasn't been as wide-spread yet.

Something for you to ponder over.

Regards
Steven Wong
