KDE Neon, being based on Ubuntu 16.04, has shared-mime-info 1.5. This versi=

is old and triggers Bug 384991. I tried upgrading to 1.8 and that fixed it.
Consider upgrading the package version in Neon so that users can open their
LibreOffice documents again without resorting to workarounds.
