Just wanted to say I'm also missing this feature.
On a related note, I've noticed that sometimes when new documents are opened,
they don't appear at the end of the list. I use Kate for programming, so this
is really annoying if I want to have foo.h and foo.cpp side by side, for
example. It would be fine if I could then drag the tab to the correct location,
but these two things together are quite irritating.
