Even without the size column, in compact view mode, it still searches for
subfolders. Probably so it knows weather to display the "expand" arrow in the
tree. 
That's why i want the option to turn it off/on, because in compact view mode,
it provides almost no benefit, as there's no size column.
On other operating systems most file managers don't display the subfolder count
for the size column, it's just empty for folders.
