Same problem here. Maybe the hardware is the key here? I'm using Intel Core 2
Duo E8400 on Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3 motherboard, ATi Radeon HD3650 and 4GB of
RAM. I'm using Arch Linux (x64), xf86-video-ati driver, most recent KDE (I had
the same problem with KDE 4). I have OpenGL 3.1 with EGL enabled for
compositor. With playlist visible the CPU usage jumps to ~20-30% on both cores,
with window minimized it's less than 10%.
