Just a little 'me too' - on a T420 Lenovo (Intel GPU from the  i7-2620M CPU @
2.70GHz).

It was essentially impossible to run for more than 3-5 minutes.

Seems that picking Oxygen as style/windeco helped, but another crash came after
about half a day so it can still hang. Removed cache AND did the export bla
trick, see if that helps. If it does, will try to figure out which one of the
two is the helpful one but that'll take time ;-)
