You can run the kdeconnect daemon on a console, to be able to see the output.

killall kdeconnectd
/usr/lib/kde4/libexec/kdeconnectd --nofork

Maybe you will see some error message there?

Anyway, plasma shouldn't crash if kdeconnect fails to load :/ Does disabling
the KDE Connect system tray fix the Plasma crash?
