With regard to KDE4, there is only solution use generic kdm plugin from kdm
version 4.6. If we talking about installing KDE from packages like .deb or
similar, I think you can unpack kdm related files from kde-4.6 package and
overwrite corresponding files of your version of kdm. At least in kde-4.11.4
this workaround works fine with fingerprint GUI.

Sorry, but for this year I don't update KDE at all and use version 4.11.4 So, I
don't know how it works in KDE5.
