Though most mouse drivers does not activate high resolution mode (I think only the Apple magic mouse does it by default). If the mouse driver in the kernel is updated and it detects the high wheel resolution feature activates it and reports the scroll events as high resolution, it should get passed through the stack of mouse driver -> evdev -> xinput2 -> Qt and work.
