Thank you - sorry for not getting back to you.
I have now gotten an almost instant (<2s) kdialog launch time.
It appeared that the slowdown may have resulted from various SFTP links that
I've kept in my places bar until now.
Are all bookmarks (inc. SFTP links) auto-cached or scraped on every call?
