For all of those who now commented with "yes, nvidia here!" and similar: it
would probably be more helpful both for you and others if you actually did
downgrade to the version I mentioned and see if the problem persists. 

If not: you got rid of the problem, people know what the cause is and they know
a workaround until nvidia releases a new driver.
