I am not sure what you mean by "Screenshot Helper Effect" (I searched for it in
the desktop effects but found nothing).

As for turning off all effects and increasing the delay, I disabled all effects
and increased the delay to 3 seconds but the fading still happens. In fact the
ones in my original post were taken using the rectangle selection tool. I tried
with all of the different ways KSnapshot lets you take the snapshot but it
occurs in all of them. One thing that is interesting though is the thumbnail
KSnapshot makes when it asks you to save is the right color but after saving
it, when I view the image, the colors are faded (the thumbnail in KSnapshot
still displays the right color though). I have uploaded another snapshot
demonstrating this.
