The problem is that the DBUS session is not accessible to the root user. The
program output provides a workable solution:

"To circumvent this problem try the following command (with Linux and bash) 
export $(dbus-launch) "

Please try running the "export $(dbus-launch) " from the console in the session
which is causing the problem and I believe you will find kcalc functional.
