ok, but the original report shows a shaped window.

This actually sounds like a complete different issue - can you reproduce after
disabling the fade and all minimization effects?
Please post/attach the output of "qdbus org.kde.kwin /KWin supportInformation"
after the minimization failed.

Not sure what you mean here, Xrender behaves differently from OpenGL?

Unless you observe the very same as in the OP, please attach screenshots.
Just "VB does weird things" does not necessarily make it the same issue.
