Sadly I do not use konqueror anymore (exchanged it for chromium..).
I think I had much more than 250 entries in URL history at this point. I used
to preserve KDE setting and browser history from release to release (certainly
from 4.1 to 4.3) so one could assume it contained ~4k entries given
konquerorrc:

If underlying implementation is indeed linked list (sorting by date done on
history load? then just linear lookup for each as-you-type letter?), it could
explain the freezes with greater number of elements anyway.

Unfortunately my konqueror browsing history is almost empty at this point so I
cannot reproduce anymore without artificially creating bigger history first
(save the fact that my rig is also considerably faster..)
Typical user - not overriding default history size - will unlikely spot the
problem.
