Good news is that I can reproduce the bug reliably now: Prune project, Build. 
Crashes just after CMake finishes writing the build files, before actual build
begins.  However, if I Prune then choose Configure, there is no crash.  It is
something that happens at the moment when it changes over from configuring to
building.
