I don't mean to seem impatient, but this sorely-needed enhancement request has
now been open for over SEVEN YEARS.

The sheer number of duplicate bugs filed (and so flagged) above should be
testament to the number of people who want this capability.  If I had the
coding skills, I'd offer to fix it myself, but I don't.

Is it really so difficult to fix?
