As of qt 4.8.2 / kde 4.8.4 / kdevplatform git master / kdevelop git master the
editor (katepart) visual settings including word wrap, fonts and color schemes
are stored globally in file $HOME/.kde4/share/config/kdeveloprc section "Kate
Renderer Defaults" and are correctly reloaded in any combinations of sessions.
Cannot confirm this bug.

Try deleting the mentioned file, probably it has got messed up (but make a
backup, since that would reset all the KDevelop settings).
