I can confirm this bug on 4.8.0. Every time I create a list, seemingly all
contacts included in the list are duplicated reliably. This is a "happens all
the time" bug. It doesn't matter if the list is created manually in
KAddressbook or by saving a set of addressees as a new list in Kmail (as in the
step by step). 

It is extremely annoying for somebody who would like to keep a tidy address
book, so I'm sure you can imagine I'd be very happy for a fix. I have three
instances of many important contacts just because they are on two email lists.
I basically cannot maintain an email list if I am unwilling to live with
duplicate contacts at the same, because every time I delete them, I will mess
up my email lists as old contacts are undistinguishable from the new.
