Since the latest updates of the fedora kde packages to:

Qt: 4.8.0
KDE: 4.7.3 (4.7.3)
kde4-config: 1.0

the google contact ressource doesn't crash anymore and behaves as expected. 
Also, the package on Archlinux from AUR, which seems to build the ressource
from git, in combination with the KDE 4.8 beta packages, works like a charm.
