It looks as if some optimisation in KSystemTimeZoneBackend::offsetAtZoneTime()
would help, so that for times near to each other, the time zone offset doesn't
have to be recalculated unnecessarily. I'll look into that.

However, KLocale::formatDateTime(), which calls that function, must be being
called a very large number of times itself. KDirModel seems to be responsible -
is it evaluating the display width too frequently? Perhaps it needs
optimisation too.
