Summary: Add better float window support for Plasma
Product: plasma
Version: unspecified
Platform: Chakra
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: wishlist
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: plasma-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: wengxt@gmail.com
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.7.0)
OS: Linux
Currently Plasma::Dialog is great for attach to panel or attach to the screen
with edge hugging.
There is some use case that fully floating window is needed, such as a popup
menu(the style like the usual menu) in lancelot, which user doesn't except to
see edge hugging. Or
http://kde-apps.org/content/show.php/Colibri?content=117147, or kimpanel.
For lancelot, since it's not quite possible there is a menu near something to
hug, it's not a problem.
For Colibri and kimpanel, they all implement their own plasma window from
QWidget, which is not quite desirable.
I believe there are some more other cases that fully floating window is good
for them.
Previously I open a thread in maillist,
http://mail.kde.org/pipermail/plasma-devel/2011-July/016568.html
Sorry for not have enough time to discuss it at that time.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
Use Plasma::Dialog
Actual Results:
Edge hugging cannot disabled.
Expected Results:
There is an optional property or alternative class for this feature.
