Summary: Changing folder / open filedialog hangs / is slow and
always triggers the hard drive
Product: dolphin
Version: 1.6.1
Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: peter.penz19@gmail.com
ReportedBy: t.pankrath@googlemail.com
Version: 1.6.1 (using KDE 4.6.2)
OS: Linux
I'm using Kubuntu 11.04 on Dell XPS notebook and ArchLinux with newest packages
on a Thinkpad R400. Both machines show the same behaviour.
If I
* navigate to a different folder in Dolphin regardless if its local or ftp/sftp
etc.
* open dolphin the first time
* open any filedialog (open/save as) in any application
the hard drive will make much noise and the machine will hang for a second.
I've tried to disable nepomuk / strigi, did kbuildsyscoca --noincremental, did
delete
temporaries from outside kde (.kde/cache.. etc), deactivated desktop effects,
but none of this did help.
I can reproduce the filedialog behaviour, with a simple python skript (see
attachments). It outputs
KGlobal::locale::Warning your global KLocale is being recreated with a valid
main component instead of a fake component, this usually means you tried to
call i18n related functions before your main component was created. You should
not do that since it most likely will not work
Reproducible: Didn't try
Steps to Reproduce:
I can reproduce this by opening dolphin and navigating to a folder
Actual Results:
machine is slow and hard drive is loud
Expected Results:
machine is fast and hard drive shouldn't do anything.
