I tried to create a similar archive with

$ cd /tmp && mkdir test && cd test
$ touch configure.ac ChangeLog wscript
$ mkdir -p Tools/testcase
$ touch Tools/testcase/testcase01.html
$ tar cJf test.tar.xz *

Both Ark and Dolphin opened the file just fine. Does it work if you try the
commmands above? If so, can you attach the faulty file you created to this
report?
