This can happen also due to a faulty touchscreen (or driver).

Possible debugging strategy: Try "xev" in order to see if events are emitted,
kill plasma-keyboardcontainer (CTRL+ESC), and see if the event flood persists

Did you find a way to reliably reproduce this problem?
