I came across the toplevel folder for an imap account and opened Bug 274087. I
think tope level imap folders is a basic feature that each and every good mail
program is capable of (tested: kmail1 + thunderbird).  It is not a general
problem of imap, else eg thunderbird could not create a top level imap folder
as well. Even kmail2 does handle existing toplevel folders fine. If I create
one in thunderbird I can read, rename and remove it in kmail2 as well. 

This feature should be implemented as soon as possible because it is a very
basic feature. Not everybody wants to group all his existing folders into a
subfolder just because kmail2 is unable to handle toplevel folders. Many kmail1
users will already have toplevel imap folders and they just like me expect that
they can use them in kmail2 as usual, which also means the ability to create
new ones on toplevel.
