i've just seen a report from a 32bit user in the novell bug tracker, saying
that the latest nvidia driver solves the problem for him. i don't have any
32bit system so can't verify this myself, but others can say if this guy got
lucky, or if the problem really is solved after all.

I install new beta driver from
ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/270.29/ and now plasma work!
