An easy (for me) reproduction case is latest FreedroidRPG which exhibits the
problem.

This is an SDL game - so it needs libSDL among other little things. Build it
and do as I did in the bug report.

I will see if I can get a minimap application that reproduces the problem, but
no guarantee upon the timing.
