Summary: "Find as you type" does not match filenames beginning
with repeated letters
Product: dolphin
Version: unspecified
Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: peter.penz19@gmail.com
ReportedBy: yangvp@gmail.com
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.4.2)
OS: Linux
If you have multiple filenames beginning with a given letter, and one of those
filenames begins with that letter repeated, find-as-you-type will not match
that filename.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a new directory
2. Create several files in the new directory beginning with the same letter. At
least one filename must begin with that letter repeated. eg:
touch edge eerie elevate even each eat
3. Navigate to the new directory in Dolphin
4. Type 'e' twice
5. Pause, type 'e' twice again
Actual Results:
"eerie" is not necessarily selected, but rather the next filename after the
current selection beginning with 'e' is selected for each subsequently typed
'e'
Expected Results:
typing 'ee' should match "eerie"
I've tried typing 'ee' at various speeds, and the behavior doesn't change.
Also, I can reproduce this behavior regardless of the view mode. I understand
this may be a "feature", but it is not the expected behavior -- or rather, it's
not the behavior I expected.
