Summary: KDE applications randomly crash when calling to
                    KIconLoader::loadIcon -> KSharedDataCache
           Product: kdelibs
           Version: SVN
          Platform: Compiled Sources
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: crash
          Priority: NOR
         Component: kdeui
        AssignedTo: kdelibs-bugs@kde.org
        ReportedBy: edulix@gmail.com

Version: SVN (using Devel)
OS: Linux

I compile always KDE applications from SVN source. I'm getting more and more
apps crashing (any kde app, and then even the crash handler). This started to
happen after the change to the new shared cache.

It happens randomly, but once one application starts crashing with this bug,
then ALL other kde apps follow. And the only solution I've found yet is
removing $KDEHOME/cache-edulix-laptop/*.kcache, then restarted application
will stop crashing for a little while.

I'll attach valgrind log and gdb backtrace of kate crashing while having this
bug being triggered.

The crash itself is quite random. For example yesterday I showed David Faure
how kate was crashing shortly after launching it succesfully and then clicking
here and there (meaning that not all loadIcon() calls were faulty), but the
crash when showed it in kate today happens so early in the kate startup process
that the window never gets shown.

It of course does not affect only kate, but all applications, and also in a
"strange" random way. First kdevelop crashed. Then I tried to reproduce the bug
launching kate 4-5 times, in one of them I executed kate within gdb for getting
the backtrace (crash handler was not geing triggered), and the other with
valgrind. Then I removed $KDEHOME/cache-edulix-laptop/*.kcache, and when
relaunching kate it didn't crash anymore, but several seconds later then
plasma-desktop crashed and other applications started to crash too.. but as I
had removed the cache files, when those applications got restarted they
didn'tcrash again.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Actual Results:
Applications randomly crash

Expected Results:
Application should not crash
