I agree it's a bit tricky...

From my POV, having opened the K-Menu and looking for an Application to launch,
getting the menu closed brutally from any app popping up is also not nice.

IIRC in KDE3, the menu would never close, whatever happened around.
If the menu is opened it probably means someone is using it right now. And any
popping-up app will be noticed since the menu does not cover the whole screen.

IMHO it should be prioritary over applications.

IMHO the menu is not an application, but at a higher (more god) level, and
can't be forced to be closed... :-)
