I found this very same bug under the bug report numbers: 226370, 34362 and
227040.
It is quite poor, that this usability bug has been consistently there for
almost a decade despite the fact that it has rank 26 regarding the votes of all
bug reports. There seems to be a hint for a solution pointed out by Trolltech.
As stated above it is a nogo that KDE still remains the only platform on which
extra mouse buttons do not work out of the box.
