Summary: "Windows Style" Unicode Directories Won't Work
           Product: amarok
           Version: 2.2.2
          Platform: unspecified
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: amarok-bugs-dist@kde.org
        ReportedBy: themaestroofemail@gmail.com

Version: 2.2.2 (using 4.3.5 (KDE 4.3.5), Gentoo)
Compiler: i686-pc-linux-gnu-gcc
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.31-gentoo-r10

Windows and *NIX apparently encode non-English characters (commonly characters
with accents) differently, as you may be aware. I organize my collection by
Album folders within Artist folders. Now, I have some artists that have
accented letters (for instance, Motörhead), and on my XP box (where my music
collection primarily lives) they are included in folder names. On this Gentoo
laptop, because of the way Windows does things, the Motörhead folder would be
called (in ls) "Mot<symbol><symbol>rhead" and Amarok would (on searching for a
track in one of these directories) say that tracks were hidden.

This general issue has been around since Amarok 1.x, but I admit it's not a
common setup. I have easily worked around it, because I SFTP'd my collection to
my laptop (for portability) and renamed the folders in question to the
non-symbol'd names, however, I would like (if possible, which is understandable
if not) a way to at least work around it in Amarok.
