That wouldn't be normal, the OS only drops a TCP connection when TCP keepalive
is enabled and the peer is not responding to keepalive probes.

This would amount to 7200 seconds or so, and only if the other pear disappears.

I have ssh sessions with TCPkeepalive disabled and my box (with a stateful
firewall in between) can hibernate for the whole night and the connections
would be already working the day after.
