This still happens with kmail from just a few weeks ago, albeit in a slightly
different way, at least here.

Select the "sent-mail" folder, choose "Send again..." from any message's
context menu, then switch the sender identity: The body doesn't disappear as in
the bug reporter's case, but suddenly all periods are stripped from the body!
Occasionally I forget to put them in again, and the sent message likely makes
me look like a complete idiot for the receiver, as someone who doesn't bother
to write correctly.

Sometimes it's necessary to switch the sender identity twice to get the
funny/nasty period stripping effect.
