Thanks to your remarks, I discovered that those error messages come from GnuPG
1.x. GnuPG 2.x is fine with them.

The problem is that I did tell KGpg wizard to use gpg2 and somehow it reverted
back to gpg and failed the parsing. After changing it again to gpg2 in the
settings, everything was fine.
