Most of the time I do not want to rotate the screen with xrandr because I am
doing other things with the machine. Just a temporary change to the mouse wheel
would be much better on our workflow.

Additionally, with well-designed panels and desktop an xrandr rotate is
impracticable. I know that activities would address this, but that would
require designing and maintaining a separate activity for when the screen is
rotated such. Thus a simple change to the mouse pointer orientation would help.
