I must say that I have never been receiving this bug on 4.2.x or 4.3.x
versions, though I have been using most betas from opensuse factory.

Yesterday I have upgraded from 4.3.1 (with some opensuse backports I suppose)
to 4.4beta1 (from opensuse factory too) and this started to happen very often -
currently I have kopete message and skype windows ghosts sitting in my taskbar.

Taskbar options:
grouping=no grouping
sorting=alphabetically
filters=only show tasks from current desktop=true, other filters=false
