I'm convinced this slows down my browsing of the images by at least a factor of three. In KDE 3, all extra animations were turnable off. In KDE 4, most seem to be, but there are small places like this and Konsole config (I've filed a separate bug for that). Perhaps there could be a global setting to turn off all animations?
