There is protection against a corrupted .kdevduchain directly. The only known
way of getting an unrecognized corrupt .kdevduchain directly is after a kernel
crash or power-loss.

What kind of crashes is it that have corrupted the directory for you?

If you can reproduce it, please report the exact steps to reproduce.
