It seems now though that when you do this, the metacontact associated with it is transient - the contact does not stay in the contact list after the chat is closed. Instead, it makes some kind o protocol-dependant bookmark (in Jabber you can right click on the protocol and select "Group Chat Bookmarks") This is less than ideal for a few reasons. Firstly, it makes it impossible to set per-chat notification settings (ie, you want messages from a specific chat room to always alert you, and others to not).
