Summary: info panel does not display detail file data
Product: dolphin
Version: unspecified
Platform: unspecified
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: peter.penz@gmx.at
ReportedBy: martin@fahrendorf.de
Version: 1.3 (using 4.3.00 (KDE 4.3.0), 4.3.0-6.fc11 Fedora)
Compiler: gcc
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.29.6-217.2.16.fc11.i586
Hallo
in the info side panel dolphin only displays additional information if
nepomuk/strigi is running and shows this data only for files that are listed
directly not via symbolic links. For example the file /music/foo.mp3 is listed
and info is shown but if /Music is a symbolic link to /music the file
/Music/foo.mp3 has no aditional infos.
In general: using the indexers database is imho not the best solution to show
additional file infos in the side panel. For all remote protokolls this
additional infos are not available. Same for removable devices.
IMO a mix of indexers and direct file access may be the best way to go. For
files not in the indexers database use direct file access, for the rest take
the indexer. This has the advantage that I can disable the indexer and have
additional infos in the info side panel.
Martin
