Summary: Not prepared to run in multiple sessions in parallel -
sudden volume increase
Product: kmix
Version: unspecified
Platform: Debian testing
OS/Version: unspecified
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: esken@kde.org
ReportedBy: spillner@kde.org
Version: (using KDE 4.2.4)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages
When I run a second KDE session in Xnest/Xephyr (with separate d-bus session,
separate $KDEHOME and $KDETMP etc.), the mixer window comes up every time even
when I close it and even when I disable the sound system, i.e. it won't show up
in the panel. This seems to be a kmix session issue.
One negative effect of having the mixer start in the second session is that it
will change the audio volume which will also affect the mixer on the primary
desktop. This means an otherwise unintrusive Xnest session suddenly becomes
very intrusive when the desktop starts making noise like hell.
Something like a per-user (not just per-session) unique application concept
would help here. Something along the lines of: the audio device is already
managed by a mixer, let me adhere to its settings instead of superimposing my
own configuration values.
