Mh, looking at the top output, the only application that is taking a lot of CPU
mostly all the time is Dolphin, and some times kio_thumbnail. May be some old
Dolphin setting is conflicting and causing the CPU usage.

To double check this, you could try to use your KDE session without using
Dolphin at all, and see if it is slow or not.
You could try to move the  ~/.kde4/share/config/dolphinrc file to another
place; and restarting Dolphin.
