This looks to have been my issue. My missing collection had ID 3. After
several attempts to get a new collection recognized and sync'd, I finally
succeeded; the unfortunate but liveable consequence was that my calendar events
were duplicated. As I reflect back, I was monkeying around with a second
collection of my Kontact calendar entries for whatever reason and I suppose
when I was finished, I removed the wrong Akanadi collection.

Thanks; your comments were very helpful.

Thomas
