Found my issue, it was a misconfigured /etc/hosts file (which would be an
OpenSuse bug, since I never touched it).

It was missing my hostname. I added 
127.0.0.1        <myhostname>
to it (where <myhostname>==my actual host name, the output of "hostname").

Other people seem to have the same problem, or an IPP printer that is no longer
connected.
