KDiff3 currently only supports Arabic via right-to-left texts. No character
joining at the moment. Perhaps in a later version.
Regarding: "...followed by a square." This might mean the file is UTF16
encoded. If this doesn't work you might want to attach or send me such a file
(one line of text would be enough.)
