I've committed a similar patch to the trunk and DARWIN branch.  The patch given
was incorrect -- $VG_ARCH doesn't exist and so the added case statement was
bad.
It worked on Darwin only because the case statement had a '*' catch-all case,
rather aborting if no exact match occurred.
