Can you please run krandrtray and in the system tray entry mark it to run at
startup?

The program responsible to apply display settings at startup is that one, so if
it starts when KDE starts it is going to apply the settings.

I know it is not intuitive, but for now it is the way it works. There is a new
scheme being worked to solve this problem and some others we have currently,
but it is not yet available in the KDE version you are using.
