It is also not able to do this due to *older* investigations. It's been seven
or eight years now.

KWiFiManager would need fundamental changes to support WPA, one reason being
that it has to listen to the interface as a daemon. All this work has been done
by other programs such as the NetworkManager daemon and KNetworkManager.

It does not make sense to try and retrofit this functionality into KWiFiManager
- you can rather consider it superseded and outdated. I suggest you use
KNetworkManager instead, which is shipped with KDE 3 and KDE 4 by default on
most distributions.
